I have rented a small, two bedroom home in Kittery Point, off Haley Road, for seven nights starting 2 Oct.; If anyone needs a room and doesn't want to stay in a hotel, one of these bedrooms is available for a single or couple.  Naturally, there's kitchen and laundry facilities.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make the trip up to Maine for the reunion.  After having my top lobe of my right lung removed (1-in. size lung cancer and I never smoked!) the end of Aug, it is just too soon for me to be making this trip from Virginia, as I feel every bump in the road right now.  I was realy hoping to make it.  I know you will all have a wonderful time and I look forward to seeing the pictures after that will be posed on this site!  Bless you all and safe travels to all that are attending!

Sorry to learn this, Ms. Donna.  Heal quickly and well and know we'll be thinking of you.

Donna,  I'm so sorry you can't make it! I know you were looking forward to it.  Take care of yourself.  Were you exposed to a lot of second-hand smoke like most of our generation?

Donna -

Sorry to read that you will not be attending the reunion, I was looking forward to seeing you there.  You will be missed.  Heal well.

God Bless,  MaryNan

Yes, I never smoked, but my 1st husband, John did and we were married for about 18 years.  So yes it looks like it was second-hand smoke.  Water over the dam now.  I have a 10 to 20% chance of reoccurrence, but I will be getting CT scans often for the next 5 years, so I should be able to catch it early again if that happens!  I'm not going to worry about it, but live life to it's fullest! Donna

MaryNan, Yes I was looking forward to reconnecting with you two.  I'm on Facebook as "Donna Blaney Tolson" if you'd like to friend me.  Love to cath up with classmates!  Donna

Jan and Barry, here’s my $0.02 worth on the future of our gatherings:  I submit that we meet again in two-year’s time when most of us have crossed into our eighth decade.  Let’s do it as late in the year as is reasonably practicable and let’s make it, at the very least, a full day.  It might be nice to return to the ship at the Wentworth for our evening meal..... just saying..... If we need to create funding to subsidize attendance for inclusiveness, then so be it.  I  don’t  believe  we’d be well  served  by waiting  another  five  years; age  and  health issues  are gaining ground  on us all!  Thoughts?  Or, in the  alternative, we could  meet up in St. Petersburg, Russia  in January.  Before you think I am daft, January is the prefect time to  tour the  Winter Palace as one  can actualy stand  in  front  of  the many wonderous works of  art. Well, okay, I am daft but not about this......

Meeting at the Ship in two years sounds like a good idea.  But, why not in July, August or September, though?

Thanks, David, for confirming what I believe to be a majority opinion among our class, that the importance is not the school or the venue, but the ability to gather as travelers with a common path.  We will certainly make that happen.

I apologize for not responding sooner to your thoughtful comments.  The truth is that I did not want to taint the reunion experience for others.  I am in town this week and am indeed seeing family, friends, and a few classmates. My objections to the process of planning for this reunion, the bases for decisions made, and the assumed authority for these is so strong and based upon such core values, that I simply could not attend.  To do so would have given some kind of tacit approval to the entire process.  I simply cannot do that.  I DEEPLY regretted having to make this decision, but my personal principles would not allow me to do otherwise.  Furthermore the whole class did not need to witness the venom being exchanged or have their enjoyment of the event diminished.  My disappointment in this situation and in the some of the individuals involved is overwhelming.

I have decided to attend the Sunday breakfast in the hope of making contact with some classmates.  I hope you will be one of them.

I look forward to a continued and long lasting relationship with our classmates and friends.

Best, as always,

Curt

This makes me so sad. I have not been involved in the planning so don't really understand the controversy, nor do I want to be called to take sides. What I will say is that I choose to believe that everyone involved made decisions with the best of intentions and with the best process they were able to muster at the time when decisions had to be made. If mistakes were made...who of us has never made a mistake...or had an opinion that was not shared by the majority?
Why can't we all just put aside our differences, choose to see the best in our classmates and set aside our preferences for one night? Whether we meet again in 5 years, 2 years or even 1 year, some of us will not be there!!!
I'm waving a white flag here my classmates! I want to see all of you! If I don't get a chance to hug you and Meredith, Curt, I will be so sad...

Martha, i whole-heartedly agree with you;  let's just drop this issue and just meet and enjoy each other.  The clock is ticking for us all.

Arnold, my thought was to allow as much scope as available for as many as possible to  cross the 70  Year-Old bar.   Besides, it's a lot less crowded in the late  fall.    Having said  this, personally, i am good  with October.

Okay, but not Columbus Day weekend.

Now, to YOU.  Thank you very much for the Wentworth get-together.  I was greta to see all of the people before tonight.  There are so many at the reunion, we don't have time to gab with everyone.

Looking forward to tonight...

Yes- thanks to Pat, Martie, and Arny for your recent comments! Ditto! Last night's gathering at the Wentworth proved we can all get along. Those on FB who saw me and Arny side by side (and both liking it!), in the photo via Gail and Susan, know our Traip congeniality can transcend all differences!

It was with great pleasure that i did what little I did to  facilitate the gathering last night.  It seems we have so precious little time to spend togther and chat;  get to know or at least  build  a sense  of the "who"  we  are as adults-- adults who are on the "winding-down" side of  life  and  who  appreciate the  fullness of  the  time  we've  had.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you to the reunion organization team and to all of our classmates for a wonderful reunion; it was perfect in all respects.   We have every reason to be proud of each other and of the lives we’ve lived.   I, for one, am proud to know each and every one of you; it is an honor to be counted with you!   Stay safe and stay healthy, we need each other and the world needs us, too.

Pat

Echoing Pat, it was so much fun to see so many people after so many years! Y'all are still in my heart (even tho I have a MA plate).

One thing that strikes me hard is the obvious fact, from observation this weekend, that we genuinely like and value each other.  This certainly transcends our differences… note the complete silence on the divisive issues of our day, etc.  Good on us!

Thanks to all who those who took pictures.  What wonderful memories we have captured of this truly memorable evening.

Amen to pat's sntiments.  Thank all of you who came to the reunion.  Josephine and I enjoyed seeing you very much.

Mr. Dorrity could not attend due to health reasons.  When you are over 90 it sort of slows you down.

All the best for a grand time,

Arny & Jo
